There will probably be people there who will let you have a go of their scopes. There are a number of astronomy societies around, find them on the web and drop in to a meeting. Your average Jessops worker will probably not know much. There are a few other big shops around that you can call, if they are too far to visit in person. I quite like F1 telescopes that I posted above, and it is local to me. If you think you might take it a bit more seriously if you get into it, it is worth talking to a real telescope shop. This is very cheap and the quality might reflect it:īut for £40 you will be able to see detail on the moon, Jupiters cloud bands and moons, and Saturn's rings. If you are not sure, binoculars are one good way to get started but difficult to hold still. I think the Meade posted earlier is a similar price.
